Young Talent BBC3

Young Talent BBC3 - Sun 29 Jan, 8pm23 January 2012 by Gerhard

BBC3’s Young Talent is the show that searches for hard-working young people.
In the quest to find Britain’s most inspirational young baker, things don’t always go smoothly – there will be the rolling of more than pastry on Young Talent this Sunday, 29th January, 8pm.

The show’s host is George Lamb and the judges are cook and writer Gizzie Erskine and my very own self.

Evening Standard story Diamond Jubilee

Queen's Diamond Jubilee19 January 2012 by Gerhard

The cat is out of the bag, the Evening Standard announced yesterday that Konditor & Cook will be baking a portrait of the Queen for the Diamond Jubilee celebration in Battersea Park on June 3rd.

The idea is to create a pixelated portrait out of 3120 of Konditor & Cook’s legendary Magic Cakes – one for each week of her reign.

Those of you who have visited the Thames Festival’s Feast on the Bridge, will know we require a bit of audience participation – this will no doubt be the same for Her Majesty’s very special portrait….

And there will be a magic moment when the whole cake will have to be cut up and eaten!

This should be a great event, please mark it in your calendar.
(I believe it’s all free as it is sponsored by the good folks at Sainsbury’s.)

Hip Hip Hooray!!!

Some would say “It’s the icing on the cake”, equally Harry Judd is a strong contender.

Menschen der Woche

Frank Elstner invites Konditor Gerhard Jenne17 December 2011 by Gerhard

‘Menschen der Woche’ is a talk show hosted by German TV anchor man Frank Elstner. The usual mix of guests includes celebrities but also people from other walks of life that have stood out from the crowd; from heroic ambulance men to buddying Einsteins & the occasional piping bag wielding pastry chef.

And so it was that Gerhard got his invite to talk about his fairy tale cake shop in London. And how he made his journey from the Black Forest to banks of the river Thames in the first place.

18th Birthday for Konditor & Cook30 November 2011 by Gerhard

18 years ago to this day Konditor & Cook opened the first shop at 22 Cornwall Road in Waterloo.

We are pleased to have come this far and would like to thank all our customers for their continued support.
A big thank you to all those that supported Konditor & Cook throughout the years: all the people that have worked for the company and all the suppliers and professional bodies that have supported us.

From an initial team of five (Mark, Anthony, Brian, Gerhard & Karen) the company has grown to nearly 100 employees today. For many of them it was their first job or a valuable experience abroad. For some it was a place where they met their partners or inspiration to set up their own business.

Here’s to many more years of fantastic baking & great food.

Come & visit us any Konditor & Cook and share a little birthday treat with us today.

Cake Competition IPC

IPC fundraiser for SPECIAL17 November 2011 by Gerhard

I was recently invited to take part in a fundraising event at IPC.
We just received news of their fundraising sale & bake off.

“We raised £1,316.09 for SPECAL, which is one of the largest amounts the charity committee have ever raised from a single event! And We can’t thank you enough for your support! We had a lot of interest in the bake off — much of which I believe is down to Gerhard’s brilliant hosting on the day!”

Here’s to more baking.
