London’s best cinema food & drink can be enjoyed in Curzon Soho as voted by Time Out Magazine!.

This is a great complement for Konditor & Cook’s popular street level cafe/bar & the Curzon’s own in-house offer.

Our friendly space overlooking Shaftesbury Avenue is an inviting place to meet friends before the theatre or for an informal business meeting during the day.

Our light snacks and extensive cake menu staves off any hunger pangs.

We recently introduced UNION hand-roasted fairtrade coffee. This calls for a little celebrations!
So from Monday to Friday, 14:00 – 17:00 hrs, during the months of September & October we will treat you to a free UNION coffee with every slice of Lemon Chiffon, Curly Whirly or Frosted Carrot bought! Simply present the ad featured in the Curzon’s program.

This is also the cinema’s ‘Cinesaver Time’ and admission prices are at their lowest.
Why not take advantage of both offers and see some great movies this autumn? See you at the Curzon!

Almond Plum Tarts

Plums-a-plenty!26 August 2010 by Gerhard

A few years ago we had Valentine’s Cakes all inspired by best fruits & flowers at RHI Fairs. I fondly remember the slogan “Get your gums round my plums” underneath a very proud pair of purple marzipan plums.

It’s time again to enjoy this fruit, as they are now ripening from the Med to the orchards of Kent.

English Victoria plums are nice and sharp and combined with the sweetness of the almonds in our freshly baked tarts, they make a very enjoyable pairing.

Simply add a bit of clotted or double cream to make them into a quick dessert.

What’s evn better, this weekend, Almond & Plum Tarts are our £10 treat.

Andre Morin @ Union Coffee

Come & try new UNION coffee!20 August 2010 by Gerhard

This is not the inventor of a new biofuel ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’, but K&C team member Andre on a recent visit to UNION COFFEE, K&C’s new coffee roasters!

UNION coffee beans are very special; 100% Fairtrade Arabica beans, selected from small artisanal growers in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Kenya & Sumatra.

Before the beans end up in your cup they go through an astonishing amount of processes. Eleven we were told!

Firstly in their home countries, then on a shipment to Felixstowe from where they continue their journey to the exotic surroundings of West Ham.
Once in East London they are given their wonderful aroma by blending and hand-roasting them in a ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ style apparatus. This happens on a daily basis, ensuring only freshly roasted beans are sent on their final journey to Konditor & Cook.
Here the beans are fresh ground and made into different coffees for those who like their coffees gutsy & bold with elegance & style!

.....and did you know – if you use the Konditor & Cook Collector Card you can get every 6th coffee absolutely free!
Wake up and smell the coffee!

Stem Ginger Cake with Lime Fondant

"Sunshine on a plate" Stem Ginger £10 Weekend Special19 August 2010 by Gerhard

For this weekend we thought you might like to try our Stem Ginger Cake with Lime Fondant.
It’s a very British flavour combination. At the same time neither ingredient grows here but reminds us of exotic, sunnier climates.

This cake is a really aromatic, moist sponge – superb for afternoon tea or dessert.

Should you feel that the current weather is the on-set of autumn and wish to comfort yourself with a steamed pudding try this trick used by one of our customers.

Remove the cake board and place Stem Ginger Cake on a microwaveable dish. Re-heat for for 1 – 2 minutes until the centre begins to warm, remove from oven and serve iwith vanilla ice-cream or a dollop of double cream.

Don’t miss out. Call ahead and reserve your £10 Special!

Apricot Almond Tart

Apricot Almond - A tartastic £1010 August 2010 by Gerhard

At this time of the year apricots are at their very best.
It’s an absolute must to use them in baking and capture their fragrant taste and the succulence of their lovely, orangey flesh..

Combining them with almond, as in Konditor & Cook’s Almond Apricot Tart, is a marriage made in heaven.

Don’t miss out on this summer treat this weekend.

Savoury Food Selection, Konditor & Cook

Lunchtime Savouries 5 August 2010 by Gerhard

The name ‘Konditor & Cook’ is in fact two professions and not the name of two individuals as so often assumed. ‘Konditor’ is the German word for pastry chef and the ‘Cook’ refers to the savoury chefs who create a daily changing menu of savouries in our stores, as we are more than just a cake shop!.
All savouries are made from scratch using fresh quality ingredients; sandwiches, sausage rolls, salads and a daily changing vegetarian & meat/fish main dish.
Also baked potatoes, bacon tartlets and pizza slices and if you buy one of our homemade soups you can collect a stamp on our customer collector card and get every 6th one free.

Pimms & Wine Curzon Soho

Pimms @ KC_CurzonSoho23 July 2010 by Gerhard

If you’re planning on hitting the West End, make sure you also allow time to pop into Konditor & Cook’s Cafe Bar @ Curzon Soho.

Our space overlooking Shaftesbury Avenuet provides the perfect meeting place & chill-out zone amidst the hustle and bustle of Soho & Theatreland.

Relax over tea & cake or grab a quick sausage roll & glass of wine to keep you on the move.

At this time of the year we recommend a jug of Pimms to keep you cool.
And this weekend we will give a plate of complimentary nibbles on the side.
Choose from frutos secos, olive cocktail or Konditor & Cook’s parmesan shortbread.

Check out what’s on at Curzon Soho.

Almond St Clement Cake

Soak up the sun for £1021 July 2010 by Gerhard

Our Almond St Clement is made with sun-kissed organic oranges. It’s something rather special, wheat & dairy free and without any added fats. Its moisture comes from a combination of pulped orange flesh & natural oil containing ground almonds.

It’s my favourite cake, refreshing & light and lends itself to afternoon tea as well as dessert.

Simply serve with Greek yoghurt or a bit of cream on the side. Perhaps add a few spoonfuls of summer berries for extra wow factor.

For an even sunnier outlook, we’re offering the 8” Almond St Clement (serves 6-8) as this weekend’s special £10 treat.
