Arnold Circus Cake

Arnold Circus Cake Action !!!18 July 2010 by Gerhard

Watch budding cake decorators adding the final touches to the magnificent Sharing Picnic 100 Cake (1:54 clip)

It was the most glorious sunny day for a celebration. And the Friends of Arnold Circus, residents and visitors did it in style!
Konditor & Cook was invited by organizers Homeliveart to create a cake to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the world’s first social housing scheme.

Since this was a great community project, and therefore a perfect fit for Konditor & Cook, we wanted everyone to share the experience of decorating & finishing the cake.

It was very moving to see everyone come together & join in the fun!

Sharing Picnic 10017 July 2010 by Gerhard

Come and help decorate a giant Konditor & Cook Lemon Chiffon Cake in celebration of 100 years of Arnold Circus this Sunday.

Between 13.00 and 15.00 we give you the opportunity to improve your icing techniques and help us finish this 7 tier cake. the tallest ever baked by Konditor & Cook.

It will later be cut in celebration of 100 years of the Arnold Circus Housing Project, Shoreditch.

A recipe book has been created for this occasion and dishes from it will be available to sample.

The grand finale will be a 100 lap bike race around the circus. It promises to be great fun too, and I’m told it won’t be your average kind of bikes, but fun and creative machines that will line up the starting line at 16.00.

Charlie, Baker at Konditor & Cook Waterloo

Charlie's Brownies!20 June 2010 by Gerhard

If you are a regular to Konditor & Cook, you may have noticed small changes to our brownies recently.
We wouldn’t dare change the recipe! With its 25% chocolate content, it’s a sure winner over the many sugary rivals.

However baker Charlie at KC_Waterloo (left) has perfected the timing of the mix and honed the baking time to the milli second. All our bakers are now following the new method & the brownies baked on site in each store have an even better texture then before. You simply have to try them!

Better still, there is a new flavour in the Brownie Bar!
A true gourmet brownie “Stem Ginger & Lime”; fantastic on its own, and a great dessert solution served with vanilla ice-cream or fresh cream.

Taste them & give us your feedback!

Almond Peach Melba

"Something for the Weekend?" Almond Peach Melba 9 June 2010 by Gerhard

For this coming weekend our pastry chefs will be filling the shops with freshly baked, wonderfully golden Almond Peach Melba tarts.

This tart features the classic ingredients of Peach Melba, a dessert originally created by Escoffier at the Savoy for Australian soprano Dame Nellie Melba.

Our baked version combines this summer’s first peaches, juicy raspberries & aromatic vanilla on a moist almondy base.

It’s a great pudding for a picnic or a quick solution for a delicious summer dessert. Each tart serves 6 – 8 and if you want to add your own finishing touch, pour it with fresh cream at the point of serving.

Better still, this Thursday & Friday each tart comes at the ‘tartastic’ price of £10 only.

Order ahead if you can!
